Singing Audition for "Annie Jr." Show
Kids in K-9 grades are welcome to audition for the "Annie Jr." Show. Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: Little orphan Annie charms everyone's hearts despite a next-to-nothing start in 1930s New York City. Annie is determined to find the parents who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of an orphanage run by the cruel Miss Hannigan. Annie eventually foils Miss Hannigan's evil machinations, finding a new home and family in billionaire Oliver Warbucks, his personal secretary, Grace Farrell, and a lovable mutt named Sandy. Additional info: There will be a vocal and acting component to this summer’s auditions. For the vocal component, please bring in a recorded track on a phone. There will be NO accompanist provided and NO a capella auditions, please. Please choose a song in the style of the show and choose one verse and chorus (approx. 1 minute ) from a musical. IMPORTANT NOTE: Please do not sing a song from the show for auditions. For the acting component, please choose a side (scene) for ONE character of your choice. The audition sides are posted the packet attached. The sides do not have to be memorized. Rehearsals will take place during the day at SIC, starting in early June. Note that a fee will be applied. Oliver Warbucks' calm, cool and classy secretary. She's all business when dealing with Miss Hannigan and Warbucks, yet kind and maternal toward Annie.
Miss Hannigan's swindling brother and his girlfriend. This comic team disguises themselves as Ralph and Shirley Mudge in an attempt to collect Warbucks' reward money. These characters play off each other and should work well as a team.
A stray dog that Annie adopts. Sandy has no lines but may earn spontaneous applause when he sings "Tomorrow" with Annie!
A glamorous diva in the number "N.Y.C." Although this role features no spoken lines, this girl must confidently sing and act.
Is enlisted by Oliver Warbucks to help locate Annie's parents. This is an excellent opportunity to cast an actor who can handle a strong character.
