Singing Audition for "Hairspray" Musical
Seeking actors ages 10 and up for "Hairspray" Musical. Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: It’s 1962 in Baltimore, and the lovable plus-size teen, Tracy Turnblad, has only one desire – to dance on the popular “Corny Collins Show.” When her dream comes true, Tracy is transformed from a social outcast to a sudden star. She must use her newfound power to dethrone the reigning Teen Queen, win the affections of heartthrob Link Larkin, and integrate a TV network… all without denting her ‘do! Rate: Limited actor stipends are available for specific roles; stipends typically range from $100 to $400. Additional info: Please submit a single video file of you singing 32 bars from a song in the style of the show with track or accompaniment You will need to upload a headshot and acting resume in addition to your video file. Rehearsals will begin Monday, April 28, 2025. Typically, rehearsals will be Mondays - Thursdays from 7:00 - 10:00 PM and Saturdays from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM. Tech Week rehearsals on June 2 - 5, 2025, will be Monday - Thursday and will begin at 6:00 PM. There may be a Q2Q rehearsal on Sunday, June 1, 2025. Vocal range top: D5 Vocal range bottom: F3 Tracy’s classmate and friend, who is discriminated against due to his skin color. He is cocky but surprisingly lovable. Talented in song and dance. He falls for Penny. This role is played by a black actor.
