Seeking actors ages 13 and up for "The Outsiders" Show. Please see the details below. About the project: "The Outsiders" details the conflict between two rival gangs divided by their socioeconomic status: the working-class “Greasers” and the upper-middle-class “Socs”. The story is told in first-person perspective by teenage protagonist Ponyboy Curtis, and takes place in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1965. Additional info: WHAT TO PREPARE: No monologue will be required. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. Show dates: July 11-12 and July 17-20. If interested, please apply.

Ponyboy is the narrator and the protagonist of the story. He is a fourteen-year-old member of the Greasers who lives with his two older brothers, Darry and Sodapop. He matures as the play progresses and realizes that the greasers are similar to the Socs and how important it is to stick together.
Sodapop is Ponyboy's older brother, who works at the gas station. He is the middle of the three Curtis boys and the most easy-going of the three brothers. He often acts as a mediator between Ponyboy and Darry.
Ponyboy’s oldest brother. His full name is Darrel Curtis. He is one of the older Greasers who raises Ponyboy and Sodapop after their parents die in a car accident. He is admired by all of the fellow Greasers and they all look up to him.
Johnny is one of the younger Greasers, only sixteen years old. He is initially meek and shy but fiercely loyal to his friends and willing to fight for what’s right. He has endured a lot and possesses quiet strength, making him a formidable opponent.
Dally is another member of the Greasers and an old friend of Johnny’s from New York. He is reckless and wild, willing to do whatever it takes to get what he wants. Despite his tough exterior, he has a soft spot for Johnny and loves him like a brother.
“Two-bit” is one of the Greasers’ oldest members. He’s a reliable source of comic relief but prone to shoplifting. He can be loud and obnoxious but has a compassionate side and is always there to support his friends. He loves to prank people but also knows when enough is enough. He loves his black-handled switchblade.
Sandy is Sodapop’s girlfriend and she is a fellow Greaser. She has a rough home life and is ready to get out of town.
Sherrie, known as Cherry due to her red hair, is Bob’s girlfriend. She is a Soc and a cheerleader, but she finds herself drawn to the Greasers when everything else in her life seems too fake. Ponyboy finds he can relate quite well to Cherry and eventually opens up to her.
Bob is a Soc. He has earned a reputation among Greasers for his tough and unfair fights and he often wearing his set of three heavy rings for added intimidation. He’s arrogant and manipulative, stopping at nothing to get what he wants.
Randy is Marcia’s boyfriend and Bob’s closest companion. He’s a good-looking Soc who eventually acknowledges the futility of struggle. After Ponyboy rescues the children from the fire, Randy attempts to make peace with Ponyboy. He refuses to fight in the final Soc-greaser rumble.
Marcia, Cherry’s friend, and Randy’s girlfriend is a Soc who connects with Two-Bit at the drive-in. With a mutual appreciation for witty conversations and nonsensical musings, it’s no surprise that Marcia and Two-Bit become fast friends.
Paul is a husky, athletic Soc. Despite their prior friendship and being on the football team together in high school. Paul steps forward to confront Darry when the rumble begins.
Jerry is the teacher who accompanies Ponyboy to the hospital after he saves the children from the fire. He takes a liking to Ponyboy and stays with him until his brothers arrive at the hospital.
