Audition for "The SpongeBob" Musical. Please see the details below. About the project: Plunge into this stunning all-singing, all-dancing, dynamic stage show! When the citizens of Bikini Bottom discover that a volcano will soon erupt and destroy their humble home, SpongeBob and his friends must come together to save the fate of their undersea world. With lives hanging in the balance and all hope lost, a most unexpected hero rises up. The power of optimism really can save the world! The SpongeBob Musical is based on the beloved animated series created by Stephen Hillenburg and features a book by Kyle Jarrow, with original songs by Yolanda Adams, Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith, Sara Bareilles, Jonathan Coulton, Alexander Ebert of Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, The Flaming Lips, Lady A, Cyndi Lauper, John Legend, Panic! At the Disco, Plain White T’s, They Might Be Giants and T.I., and songs by David Bowie, Tom Kenny and Andy Paley. Additional lyrics are by Jonathan Coulton, with additional music by Tom Kitt. The musical production was conceived by Tina Landau. Additional info: Audition Forms – Candidates will complete the FCTT Audition Form. Be prepared to write or attach past experience/skills, roles desired (may choose “Any”), and scheduling conflicts. Vocal Auditions – Please prepare a portion of a song (no longer than 45 seconds) to do a closed singing audition (NOTE: no accompanist, so please be prepared to play a karaoke track off your phone or device) Readings – All candidates will congregate in the open auditorium. Directors will call candidates to the stage to read specific readings. Directors will look for expression and volume. Casting Announcement & Script Pickup – This is a no-cut program, so by auditioning, you are in the show! Script pickup will be on May 13, 2025 between 6-8pm. Audition Tips: Research – Research the show to understand the plot, characters, and cast requirements. Be Prepared – Rehearse and memorize music. Warm up voice prior to auditions. Be familiar with show music. You may be asked to sing excerpts. Introduce Yourself & Your Song – As you take center stage for your singing audition, state your name and title of your song. Dress Nice but Comfortable – You may be asked to dance or move. Avoid high heels, flip-flops, etc. Deep Breath & Smile – Even seasoned actors are nervous. Mistakes happen. Don’t apologize. Just go on and give the next part your all. Smile and look like you are enjoying yourself. Reading – Oral reading is rarely flawless. Focus on character and inflection. If you stumble over words, try to go on without stopping or apologizing. SCRIPT PICKUP: May 13, 2025, between 6-8 pm PERFORMANCE DATES (1 Weekend): July 11, 12, & 13, 2025 PERFORMANCE TIMES: Fridays & Saturdays 7:30 pm Sundays 2:00 pm A script deposit will be collected on script pick-up day and returned at the completion of the production if the script is returned, erased, and in acceptable condition.
