About the project: Disney's Newsies JR. is a 60-minute version of the 2012 Broadway musical, based on the 1992 film. Inspired by the rousing true story of newsboys in turn-of-the-century New York City, Newsies JR. features a Tony Award-winning score by Alan Menken and Jack Feldman and a book by Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein. When powerful newspaper publishers raise prices at the newsboys' expense, the charismatic Jack Kelly rallies newsies from across the city to strike against the unfair conditions. Together, the newsies learn that they are stronger united and create a movement to fight for what's right. Additional info: Callbacks, April 13th PERFORMANCE DATES: June 13-15 & 20-22, 2025 Friday 6:30pm; Saturday 10:30am & 6:30pm; Sunday at 2:00 PM with matinees on June 18 & 20 at 9 & 11 am You must be available for all performances. No conflicts accepted for performance dates or the tech/dress week of opening. No exceptions. Be prepared to sing a one-minute cut of a song and bring the sheet music with you. An accompanist will be provided. Please no A cappella singing, instrumentals on CD, Tape, iPod, MP3 Player or digital recorder. Be prepared to learn a short, choreographed dance routine. You may bring dance shoes to change into and wear clothing for movement. If you are called back, you will be asked to read from the script and sing selections from the show.
