Casting Call for Teens for "The Drowsy Chaperone" Show
Actors ages 14 and up are welcome to audition for "The Drowsy Chaperone" Show. Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: With the houselights down, a man in a chair appears on stage and puts on his favorite record: the cast recording of a fictitious 1928 musical. The recording comes to life and The Drowsy Chaperone begins as the man in the chair looks on. Mix in two lovers on the eve of their wedding, a bumbling best man, a desperate theatre producer, a not-so-bright hostess, two gangsters posing as pastry chefs, a misguided Don Juan and an intoxicated chaperone, and you have the ingredients for an evening of madcap delight. Additional info: IN-PERSON CALLBACKS - Tuesday, May 20th 6:30 pm - 10 pm (By Invitation Only) AUDITION MATERIALS: Please prepare an approximately 1-minute musical theater excerpt in the style of the show, please bring sheet music in your key for the in-person audition You will be taught a short movement group dance before your vocal auditions - please come dressed to move. (For those submitting tapes, there will be a short dance combo for you to film, same as the in-person callt) Things you’ll need: - a photo of yourself that you ADORE - either a resume or a list of your theatrical adventures (or the gift of allowing us to be your first stage experience!) - a list of conflicts - and the knowledge that spelling mistakes or conflicts can be changed up until auditions! First general rehearsal (full cast) Sunday, June 1st at 6 pm. Rehearsals run Sunday - Thursday evenings (Sundays 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm, Mondays - Thursdays 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm.) Please note: A limited number of featured roles will rehearse Sunday Afternoons in July.
