"Broadway Jr. Revue: Pure Imagination" Needs Kids

Kids ages 8-15 years old are welcome to audition for "Broadway Jr. Revue: Pure Imagination". Please see the details below. About the project: Pure Imagination is a brand-new revue featuring songs from across MTI's Broadway Junior collection. From Broadway Junior musicals based on adored titles like Seussical and Shrek The Musical to Disney favorites like Beauty and the Beast and Frozen, Pure Imagination offers a fun opportunity for young performers to work on their performance skills! Additional info: This show is primarily all singing and dancing with a minimal script, so be prepared to move! Come dressed in clothes you are comfortable moving in. You must have closed-toe shoes and we recommend bringing a bottle of water. WHAT TO EXPECT FOR AUDITIONS: Dance: You will be taught a new dance by the Choreographer. She will teach you as a group, then small groups will perform the dance. Directors know this dance is brand new to everyone, so they aren’t looking for perfection. This is your chance to show your stage presence and performance skills! If you have jazz shoes or ballet slippers, bring them to learn the dance. If you don’t own dance shoes, closed-toe sneakers will do. Please do not wear sandals or Crocs for auditions! Music: Below is all the information and resources you need for the audition cuts. Please practice and prepare them ahead of time - we like to see how well you can prepare on your own. It is recommended to memorize the audition cut but not required. Everyone will have a chance to do vocal warm-ups and sing the audition cut a few times with the full group. After that, the auditioners will be lined up in numerical order to sing the audition cut on their own. A Google Drive link is attached to view the sheet music & reference recordings of the cuts. The reference recordings are just so you can hear an example of how the cut sounds; you will be singing on your own with the accompaniment tracks from YouTube links further down. For All Girls: Please prepare the audition cut of “Maybe” from Annie Jr. in the Google Drive. For boys, there are two audition cuts to choose from. One is for boys' pre-voice change and one for boys' post-voice change. If you aren’t sure where you are at, try both and pick the one that is most comfortable. For boys' pre-voice change, prepare “Oh The Thinks You Can Think” from Suessical Jr. Please note that there are lines at the beginning of the cut. Directors would like you to memorize and say these as well as sing! For boys post-voice change (usually ages 12 and up) Please prepare “Different” from Honk Jr. in the Google Drive. Since this show is a music review, there are no defined characters. We cast based on solos available in the music.
