About the project: Set on Chicago’s South Side, A Raisin in the Sun follows the Younger family as they confront poverty, racism, and conflicting dreams after the death of their father. A life insurance check sparks tension as each member imagines a different future. Lorraine Hansberry’s powerful drama explores identity, family, and the search for dignity amid adversity. Additional info: 1st Rehearsal: 6.3.25. Directors do not expect daily rehearsal calls for the youth role. They will have a Youth Coordinator onsite to supervise and assist, so parents will not need to be present at rehearsals. 1st Preview: 6.25.25 Opening Night: 6.27.25 Closing Night: 7.13.25 (7 shows per week) The audition material is attached.
