Young Talent Wanted for Upcoming Singing Audition "Oliver"

Vocal range top: E5, Vocal range bottom: A3 Oliver has been brought up in a workhouse where he has only ever known cruelty. Although he is tough, he has a certain ignorance due to his inexperience of the world that has come to define this role over the last few decades. This makes Oliver an easy target and throughout his journey he is teased and harassed, his purity of soul and confusion angering the streetwise crew he becomes involved in.

Vocal range top: E5, Vocal range bottom: A3 The Artful Dodger is a key member of Fagin’s gang. Streetwise and manipulative, he sees Oliver as an easy mark and initiates him into the gang, despite knowing Oliver knows nothing about this world. He does it purely to entertain himself and as a means to his own end. He is cocky, arrogant and is only out to save his own skin.

Vocal range top: B4, Vocal range bottom: G4 One of Fagin's pickpockets and Dodger's sidekick.

Vocal range top: G5, Vocal range bottom: Ab3 Nancy’s friend, who may also have worked for Fagin. She is still a little naïve and is yet to see the true harshness of life. Lovely singing and acting should portray her innocence, as a contrast to Nancy. Good mover with Cockney accent. Will be included in ensemble scenes.

The Undertaker’s apprentice, who may have also come from Workhouse. He feels threatened by, dislikes, and torments Oliver. He bullies Oliver about hismother and enjoys a flirtatious relationship with Charlotte. Cockney accent. Will be included in ensemble scenes.

The Sowerberry’s daughter who is attracted to Noah. She is also unkind to Oliver and encourages Noah’s bullying. Cockney accent. Will be included in ensemble scenes.
