Casting Call for Boys and Girls for "Guys and Dolls" Show
Children in Grades 8-12 are invited to audiiton for "Guys and Dolls". Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: "Guys and Dolls" is a classic musical set in the bustling streets of New York City, filled with colorful characters and lively songs. The story revolves around the unlikely romance between a high-rolling gambler, Sky Masterson, and a straight-laced missionary, Sarah Brown, as well as the humorous relationship between the charming Nathan Detroit and his long-time fiancée, Miss Adelaide. With its memorable music, witty dialogue, and vibrant dance numbers, "Guys and Dolls" offers a fantastic opportunity for young performers to showcase their talents and bring these iconic characters to life. Additional info: Those auditioning will only have to attend one session of singing/dance auditions. Those auditioning are asked to please prepare 32 bars (about one minute) of music from a song in a similar style to the show. (If you're trying to get a jump on it, think classic Broadway musical.) An accompanist will be provided; please bring a copy of your music for them. While it is preferred that you sing with an accompanist, singing acapella is also an option. At the singing/dance auditions you will also be asked to learn and perform a brief dance combination, so please dress in clothes that allow you to move. You do not need to prepare a monologue. Cold readings from the script will take place at callbacks. Rehearsals are slated to begin on Sunday, April 27. The rehearsal schedule is Sunday-Thursday evenings, generally 6:00-9:00 p.m. If interested, please apply.

Just like his name suggests, he is the nicest and cheeriest of the gambling crooks. High-spirited and a bit naïve, but sincere and genuine. Nathan's loyal friend and lackey. (tenor)

A bright-eyed woman who serves as Sergeant of the local Mission. She fully believes in her worthy cause and wishes to convert the gambling sinners to saints. Falls unexpectedly in love with Sky along the way. She is prudish and uptight, but eventually lets go.
The bass drum and cymbal player in the Mission band, he is Sarah's loving grandfather/mother. Wise and sweet, they want nothing but the best for her.
A crook and gambler. He is a tough guy with dollar signs as his bottom line. Brings Big Jule into Nathan's craps game and backs his cheating, but is also a man of his word in the gambling community.
A New York police officer who is on to Nathan's illegal craps games and is dead-set on catching him. A tough, no-nonsense character.
A good-hearted gambler and craps game organizer who could never hit the bigtime. He loves Adelaide, but cannot quit his gambling ways. A broke schemer with unwitting ways.
Nathan's fiancé and a lead performer at the Hot Box nightclub. She loves Nathan more than anything in the world and desperately wants to get married. Pretty, outspoken, stubborn.
