Casting Call for Boys and Girls for Children’s Chorus

Children grades 2 to 6 are invited to audition for Children’s Chorus. Please see the details below. Additional info: Music-reading skills are not required, but successful candidates will need to demonstrate basic singing ability. The performance will begin in June. Directors will ask your child to stand and sing one of their favorite songs, and to echo a simple melody line or two. Singers will receive take-home YouTube rehearsal recordings to help them learn the choral songs and individual voice parts. There is no cost to join the chorus, though parents are required to remain with their child during the course of the brief audition. Weekly rehearsals will begin on Wednesday, March 12, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. What is especially appealing about the chorus is that Benson has written a series of songs specifically for the kids to learn and sing. The titles include “Petaluma Wetlands,” “Muskrat Dash,” “California Condor Fly,” “Beaver-Believer,” “Turkey Vulture Sun Salutation,” “Have you Seen a Monarch – Lately?” and “Dinosaurs are Still Here,” described as a tribute to the great blue heron.
