About the project: Songs For a New World is the type of show that has everyone captivated throughout the entire performance not just because the music and lyrics are brilliantly written, but more so because the audience and performers fall in love with these characters as they are people who experience the very hardships, losses, loves, and joys that we, our friends, and family also experience in life. Songs For a New World is about “one moment.” A “cannon event” that we experience that shapes us or can sometimes define us. It’s about hitting a wall and having to make a choice in life- to take a stand, keep pushing forward, struggle to get back up, or sometimes dealing with the pain, heartbreak, or loss that comes after. Throughout the show we meet a total of 18 different characters played by four actors. Each of which we find dealing with a different set of given circumstances and we watch as they make their way through some of the highest and lowest points in life. This show allows us to peek into the lives of each of these characters in an effort to better understand ourselves. Despite some of the bleak circumstances we may find our characters in, Songs for a New World leaves the audience with the hope and resolution that no matter what choices we make, in the end, “we’ll be fine.” Additional info: Show Dates: August 14, 15, 16, at 7:30 pm and August 17 at 3:00 pm Possible callbacks will be March 26 at 7pm.
