Dance Opportunities for Teens in "Footloose" Musical
7th-12th Graders are welcome to audition for "Footloose" Musical. Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: Footloose is a musical based on the 1984 film of the same name. It tells the story of a teenager who moves from the city to a small town where dancing is banned and encourages his classmates to defy the local preacher. The show features an Oscar-nominated score, including hits like "Holding Out for a Hero" and "Let's Hear it for the Boy", and new songs written for the stage. Additional info: Note: If cast, there will be a production fee applied per cast member. This fee will be used towards production expenses, including costumes, props, sets, tech and more. Even with this in place, it is the commitment and mission to provide access to the arts for EVERY kid. Rehearsals for the production will take place starting March 31st and will be held weekly on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays with occasional Saturday rehearsals as well. Baritone. The powerful, traditional local church leader; strict, stern, and solemn, still struggling with the death of his son.
Mezzo-Pop. Smart, a bit of the bad girl with an edge, sweet, the rebellious minister’s daughter; role requires strong belt, must be a strong singer/dancer.
Soprano. Reverend Moore’s loving, supportive, resilient wife.
Great soprano/pop voice. Ariel’s friend; a bit scatterbrained,sweet, fun, knows everything about everything; role requires strong belt, strong comedic timing and dance.
Tenor. A simple country bumpkin with a warm heart and a big smile; comedic timing and dance a must.
Soprano. Ren’s mother; had a tough go, just trying to make it…would do anything for her son.
