Singing Audition for "Matilda the Musical"

Kids ages 8 and up are invited to audition for "Matilda the Musical". Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: Matilda is a heartwarming and empowering story about a young girl with extraordinary intelligence, resilience and a bit of magic to back her up! She remains all those things and more all while facing neglectful parents and a tyrannical headmistress, Miss Trunchbull. Matilda begins a path of discovering her inner strength, builds meaningful friendships and learns to stand up for herself and others. With the guidance of her sweet and kind hearted teacher, Miss Honey, Matilda realizes she has the power to rewrite her story! Additional info: Come prepared to perform cold readings from some scenes of the script, a quick dance audition (dress comfortably to dance in), and a brief song that showcases your voice either from the show or another(about a minute and a half) led by the music director. Rehearsals will begin with a readthrough on Thursday, February 13th(Subject to change). Typically rehearsals will be Monday, Wednesday, and Friday evenings from 4:30-6:30(Times are subject to change if needed. Rehearsals may be added throughout if needed/closer to show week) at Newfound High School (More detailed schedule will be posted once the show is cast). Not every actor will be called to every rehearsal. You are expected to be available every rehearsal the week before and the week of the show (“tech week”). Students in the elementary-aged range should be able to withstand long rehearsal times and late nights, especially leading up to tech week and show week.
