Rodney is the rebellious and angsty 17-year-old son of Trisha and Ralph. All he wants for his 17th birthday party is some alone time with his two friends and play video games, but Trisha wants to make sure his day is special. He feels overborne by his mother and wants to, as kindly as he can muster, tell her to let him make decisions for himself.
This is one of two supporting roles as Friend in this film. The friends are run-of-the-mill teenage boys, angsty and rude to everyone they meet. They’re over their friend Rodney’s house for his 17th birthday party, set up by his overbearing mother. All they want to do is play video games and hang out with Rodney, but their plans are interrupted by the arrival of a party clown, hired by Rodney’s mom. They don’t take kindly to the clown, however, laughing and making fun of him.
