Young Talent Wanted for "Seussical the Musical"
Kids ages 6 and up are invited to audition for "Seussical the Musical". Please see the details below. About the project: The Cat in the Hat tells the story of Horton, an elephant who discovers a speck of dust that contains the Whos, including Jojo, a Who child sent off to military school for thinking too many "things." Horton faces a double challenge: not only must he protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must guard an abandoned egg, left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping, and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family, and community are challenged and emerge triumphant. Additional info: PRE-AUDITION WORKSHOP (optional): Saturday, February 1st: 1 pm-4 pm. Those participating will be provided with an audition form to complete upon entering the theatre. Please have a list of rehearsal conflicts that you are aware of between the dates of February 18th- May 11th (including MANDATORY TECH REHEARSALS MAY 4-8 ) ready to be submitted. Auditionees should prepare 16-32 bars (approximately between :45 and 1:30) of a song from the show or in the style of the show and come with a karaoke track to sing along with on their phone. There will be no piano accompanist at the audition. Auditionees will also be asked to read a short 30-60-second monologue to see characterization and inflection. You may bring your own or do a cold read of the one provided to you at the time of the audition. Youth auditioning are encouraged to come in loose-fitting, comfortable clothes and will be taught a 16-count dance audition.
