Kid Actors Needed for "The Wizard of Oz" Show

Students in Kindergarten through 12th grade are welcome to audition for "The Wizard of Oz" Show. Please see the details below. About the project: The story is as familiar as it is beloved. That nasty tornado carries Dorothy and her canine pal Toto from the friendly confines of her Kansas home to a fabled fantasy of mystery in the land of Oz. Our story begins with the Illusionists who set the scene for the tale you are about to witness. With the help of the Munchkins and Glinda herself, the young Miss Dorothy and her loyal pooch join forces with the Scarecrow, the Tin Man and, of course, the Cowardly Lion. Off they go down the Yellow Brick Road–side-stepping a Wicked Witch and her ferocious Kalidahs, Sprouts that are far nicer-looking than they act, and the loyal Green Guard–on their perilous journey to find the Wizard and ask for his help. For they are sure his Wizness will grant their wishes and send Dorothy and Toto back to their home will he? We’ll never tell. Come see for yourself. Additional info: Approximately 50-60 local students will be cast to appear in the show. There is no guarantee that everyone who auditions will be cast in the play. Students wishing to audition must arrive by the scheduled starting time and stay for the entire two-hour session. The first rehearsal begins approximately 15 minutes after the audition. This is a group audition–no advance preparation is necessary. Students should just be ready to come and have a good time! Rehearsals will be conducted every day Monday, February 3rd through Friday, February 7th from 4:00 pm to 8:15 pm on the mainstage at The Young Performing Arts Center. Although not all cast members will be needed at every session, those auditioning must have a cleared schedule for the entire week and if selected, be able to attend all rehearsals required for their role and be available for all scheduled performances. A detailed rehearsal schedule will be distributed at the conclusion of the auditions. Cast members scheduled for the full 4 hours and 15 minutes will be asked to bring a sack lunch, dinner or snack to be eaten during the 15-minute break between sessions. The performance will be held on Saturday, February 8th at 3:00 pm and will be presented at The Young Performing Arts Center. Please download the audition packet attached for more information.
