Children Theatre Casting Call for "Children of Eden"
Kids ages 7 and up are invited to audition for the "Children of Eden" Show. Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: Stephen Schwartz and John Caird’s musical, Children of Eden casts the beloved biblical stories of Genesis through the personal lens of family. Children of Eden starts with the very beginning: the creation of the universe. Father breathes life into his children, Adam and Eve, and learns that the hardest part of being a loving Father is letting go. It’s a lesson that translates into the parenting of Cain, Abel, and Seth -- and is reiterated once again as Noah parents his sons Shem, Ham, and Japheth. This joyous and inspiring musical celebrates the difficulty of choice, the importance of passion, the value of questioning, and the pain in allowing those you love to take risks and face the consequences. Additional info: Come prepared to sing a one-minute cut of a musical theater song of your choosing, preferably not from Children of Eden, and to read the prepared sides for the character(s) you are interested in. The sides do not need to be memorized. Directors will also test auditioners’ vocal range. There will be callbacks on Wednesday, February 12th from 6:00-9:00 pm. Rehearsals will typically be Mondays through Thursdays, and occasionally Saturdays, from 6:00-9:00 pm (until closer to show time). Please see the attachment for details and forms. Every featured role below will also be an ensemble (except Father). You are also welcome to audition to solely be part of the ensemble of Storytellers! They literally move the story along through song. I would argue that they are the most important role in this show. The harmonies are incredible, and they are on stage 75% of the show.
Range: B3 – D5 The older of the two brothers. Is curious and questioning like his mother. Intense
Range: B3 – D5 The younger of the two brothers. Favors his father in personality. Obedient and devout
Range: B3 – A5 Abel's older, adventurous brother. Follows in his mother's footsteps and longs for the companionship of other humans. He is strong, stubborn, and independent.
Range: B3 – G5 Cain's younger and more conservative brother who follows the "rules". He chooses his parents over Cain.
Range: B3 – E5 Adam and Eve's third son and their family's second chance at life. He is innocently adventurous.
Range: B3 – A5 In love with Yonah and is willing to sacrifice his life to be with her. He is Noah's youngest son. Clever, rebellious, stubborn
Range: G3 – G5 Noah's servant who falls in love with Japheth and becomes his wife. A descendent of Cain. She is strong, yet humble, kind, and smart.
