About the project: 9 to 5 The Musical, with music and lyrics by Dolly Parton and book by Patricia Resnick, is based on the seminal 1980 hit movie. Set in the late 1970s, this hilarious story of friendship and revenge in the Rolodex era is outrageous, thought-provoking, and even a little romantic. Pushed to the boiling point, three female coworkers concoct a plan to get even with the sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot they call their boss. In a hilarious turn of events, Violet, Judy, and Doralee live out their wildest fantasy – giving their boss the boot! While Hart remains “otherwise engaged” the women give their workplace a dream makeover, taking control of the company that had always kept them down. Hey, a girl can scheme, can’t she? Additional info: Callbacks (by invitation)— Tuesday, March 11 – 630 p.m. FOR OPEN AUDITIONS • Choose and prepare ONE song from the selected list at this link: 9 to 5 Audition Central (NOTE: Practice/Sample tracks are also available at the link mentioned above.) • Arrive early. An audition form will need to be filled out at the time of arrival. • Resume is encouraged but NOT required. • Be prepared with all known scheduling conflicts during the rehearsal period (May 25 – July 13). • There will be a short choreography audition o You will be taught a dance and perform it in small groups o Have comfortable shoes available FOR CALLBACKS • Callbacks for principal roles are by invitation and will occur on Tuesday, March 11, 2024 (beginning at 6:30 p.m.). • Those invited to callbacks will be notified by the end of auditions on March 9 or 10 and given callback materials. • Even if you do NOT receive a callback, you will still be considered for a role within the production.
