About the project: The play portrays a family struggling to grapple with the realities and consequences of each member’s failings. The parents and two sons blame and resent each other for various reasons; bitterness and jealousy serve as proxies for ultimately failed attempts at tenderness and compassion. The family’s enduring emotional and psychological stress is fueled by their shared self-analysis, combined with articulate honesty. The story deals with addiction, unfulfilled dreams, moral flaws, and the struggle of family relationships. Their youngest son; he’s a bit of a romantic and intellectual. He gets sick during the play so a bit of stage combat and stage comedy is needed for this character. Please note: this part has a lot of lines. Please only audition if you are able to memorize page-long monologues.
She’s their maid and she has the least lines but still is a juicy and fun part. She has a slight Irish accent so accent work will be required for this role.
