Additional info: If members of the cast or crew are missing on days we didn’t expect, it creates confusion and is not fair to other members. For this reason, the directors ask you to consider the following information: Please think through conflicts with the rehearsals and performances before you audition. Think about work, sport events, religious obligations, and family vacations so that these important conflicts are honestly recorded on your audition form. The directors cast based on conflicts you are honest about, and if NEW conflicts arise, you MAY be re-cast. Please see the attachment for details. THE ACTING: All auditioners will read/present a monologue from the list below. Gender/character doesn’t matter. Be prepared to read it a variety of ways upon request. (Perhaps a German accent, ya?) THE SINGING: All auditioners will sing for the production staff (acapella.) Auditioners can sing 30 seconds of any song that they feel like best represents their vocal ability. Boy about age ten who is sweet, smart, hopeful and loving. Charlie Bucket is the emotional heart and soul of the musical. He is wonderfully innocent. An honest actor and an excellent singer with an unchanged voice. Charlie is in nearly every scene, and the actor should be able to handle the demands of a sizable role.
Youthful boy who is round and full-faced, but rampantly over-active despite his size. He speaks with a German accent and is an excellent singer and comedic actor.
Veruca is wealthy, class-conscious, and completely spoiled girl. Classical ballet skills a plus but not required. Veruca is a comedic actress with a character singing/screaming voice. Pointe shoes not required but indicate if you have them and are a dancer and/or gymnast. Speaks with a Russian accent.
Youthful girl who has a huge pop/R&B voice, as well as amazing hip-hop dance skills. She is confident, forward and full of attitude. This girl loves attention and is a great singer.
Youthful boy who is a fireplug with a ridiculous amount of energy. For this adaptation Mike is not just a TV junky. He is also addicted to video games, the Internet and any other mindnumbing technological device. He is a hacker as well! Mike is bratty, loud and obnoxious. He does not understand the word "no."
