Kid Audition For Singing in "Shrek The Musical"

Performers aged 8-18 years old are invited to audition for "Shrek: The Musical". Please see the details below. About the project: "Once upon a time, there was a little ogre named Shrek...." Thus begins the tale of an unlikely hero who finds himself on a life-changing journey alongside a wisecracking Donkey and a feisty princess who resists her rescue. Throw in a short-tempered bad guy, a cookie with an attitude, and over a dozen other fairy-tale misfits, and you've got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there's one on hand... and his name is Shrek. Shrek presents a treasure trove of creative opportunities, including costumes, sets, puppets (there is a fire-breathing dragon after all), and more! Irreverently fun for the whole family, Shrek proves that beauty is truly in the eye of the ogre. I know it’s today, He’ll show up today”) Pinocchio: “Story of My Life” - m. 15-30 (“Life is disappointing … that’s the story of my life”) Dragon: “Forever” - m. 5-30 (“Another day inside my keep … forever, forever”) Gingy: “Freak Flag” - m. 1-19 (“We spend our whole lives … splinters and all”) Happy Birthday: Anyone may sing Happy Birthday for their audition! It is encouraged to sing one of the above songs to be strongly considered for a lead. Range Test: A simple vocal range test will be performed by our music director. Dance Requirements: The Choreographer will teach dance to all students and have them perform the dance in small groups. Acting Auditions: There will be cold reads from the script. Note for Auditioning students: Both singing auditions/ range tests/ and Cold reads will be conducted in the open audition space. (This is different from years past.)
