Seeking Teenagers for "The Little Mermaid" The Musical
Looking for boys and girls for "The Little Mermaid" The Musical. You must be at least 14 years old as of 12/03/2024 to audition for a role. There are no exceptions to this. Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. Additional info: Calls for Callbacks will begin Saturday, 12/7, at 9 AM. Callbacks are on Saturday, 12/7, beginning at 12 PM. Only certain auditionees for specific roles will be called back. The audition form should be completed and submitted electronically before your desired Audition date. The form asks which days you can audition (12/3-12/6). Based on your availability, you will be assigned an audition slot on one of the day(s) you indicated on the form. You will receive an email with your assigned Audition Date. WHAT TO BRING/WEAR TO AUDITIONS Please bring a water bottle and wear clothing that allows for movement. We recommend leggings, shorts, sweatpants, or similar attire. Please wear jazz shoes, jazz sneakers, or clean sneakers for the dance audition. If you wish to participate in the tap workshop, please bring tap shoes if you have them; otherwise, bring hard-soled shoes. DANCE WORKSHOP AND AUDITION The dance workshop will serve as your audition. During the workshop, auditionees will first review the prerecorded dance sequence. (You can prepare ahead of time for your dance audition by reviewing the video of the dance audition on the Lyric website.) Next, you will learn an additional choreographed sequence and perform both sequences as a group for your audition. *There will be an optional tap workshop and audition for those interested in being featured in the musical numbers “Positoovity” and “Positaggity.” There will be no advance Tap Video for review. VOCAL & READING WORKSHOP The vocal & reading workshop will allow you to review and sing the vocal selections as a group, with piano accompaniment. During this time, please use any downtime to practice your chosen reading if you haven’t done so beforehand. *While you are not required to memorize your vocal or reading selections, familiarity with them will benefit you and make your audition much less stressful. During this audition, you will be required to sing an ascending and descending scale with the piano, perform one vocal selection with the piano, and perform one reading selection. Each member of your audition group will perform their reading and vocal selection individually. CALLBACKS Callbacks will be held on Saturday, 12/7. Only certain auditioners for specific roles will be called back. If you do not receive a callback, it does not mean you were not cast in the show, only that the team did not need to see you in the callback setting. Callbacks will include scene work and additional vocal selections. REHEARSALS: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 6:30-9:30 PM and Sundays from 12:45-5 PM. You will likely not be needed for every rehearsal. A cast and crew meeting is scheduled for Monday, December 9th at 6:30 PM at Lyric Theatre’s Creative Space. Flounder is Ariel’s sincere and sensitive best friend who rarely leaves her side. A spunky fish with a sweet sense of humor, he can be awkward and anxious around his unrequited crush and fearful of dangers that lurk in and above the water.
The helmsman of Prince Eric’s ship is a nautical expert who entertains the sailors with wild tales of the sea. He is featured in "Fathom’s Below" and "The Storm."
The sailors are the skilled crew of Prince Eric's ship. They are robust, enthusiastic about adventure, and are efficient and attentive to the pilot's orders. You can find them featured in "Fathoms Below" and "The Storm."
Windward and Leeward, trumpet fish, are heralds in King Triton’s court and will appear in multiple scenes with King Triton, but will also appear in several other numbers/scenes as sea creatures (as themselves), bay creatures, and chefs.

SEA CREATURES: Sea creatures of various species make up the underwater ensemble of King Triton’s court, and are featured in "Under the Sea."
The Gulls make up Scuttle’s energetic supporting flock in "Positoovity" and "Positagitty," featuring 6 tap dancers and 3 vocalists!
The Maids are five palace servants who report to Grimsby. They sing in "Beyond My Wildest Dreams" and are featured in "Les Poissons Reprise" and "Mayhem." They haughtily assist Ariel in preparation for dinner with Prince Eric and are a bit jealous of this pretty stranger in their midst.
The Chefs are the sous staff of the eccentric Chef Louis. Their equally exaggerated movements add to the comedic chaos of dinner as they chase Louis around the dining room. They are featured in "Les Poissons Reprise" and "Mayhem."
Bay creatures and plants of various species comprise the above-water ensemble for "Kiss the Girl".
