Singing Audition for "Romeo and Juliet" Play

About the project: While the tale of two young lovers divided by family hatred may feel familiar, HERE, Verona is the WIDELY DIVERSE city of Gujarat, India (but still called Verona). After the time of partition (around 1952) it was a melting pot of religious, racial, and ethnic identities, including the ancestral Gujarrs, Africans, and Europeans who stayed following the violence. African populations migrated to western India for centuries, from Ethiopia and other areas of the horn of Africa. White Europeans who stayed included the English, Dutch, French, and Portuguese. In addition to creating opportunities for South Asian artists here in the valley to, casting for Romeo and Juliet is designed to reflect this rich diversity. Rate: Non-Union Only ($150/wk) Some unpaid internships are also available. Additional info: Rehearsals Begin: January 2, 2025 Run/Shoot: February 8, 2025 – February 23, 2025 Actors should prepare: a 1-minute classical monologue. Knowledge of Indian dance, a plus but not required. Some roles require experience with Shakespeare, stage combat, or both. Appointments are 5-8 minutes Please see the attachment for details.
