Young Talent Wanted for "The Wizard of Oz: Youth Edition"
Seeking performers ages 8 and up for "The Wizard of Oz: Youth Edition". Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: Join Dorothy and her loyal companion Toto as they “Follow the Yellow Brick Road” through the Land of Oz, determined to reach the Emerald City, where the great and powerful Wizard of Oz will help them get home. Of course, along the way, Dorothy encounters witches (both good and bad), Munchkins, talking trees, and winged monkeys. But most importantly, she befriends three unique characters: a Scarecrow with no brain, a Tin Man with no heart, and a Lion with no “nerve.” Their journey to happiness – and self-awareness – is a glowing testament to friendship, understanding and hope in a world filled with both beauty and ugliness. Additional info: Please be prepared to sing a short song or vocalize! You are welcome to sing ANYTHING – but “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” sheet music is provided in the attached folder. There will not be an accompanist. Please be prepared to move and dance! You are welcome to show directors any way you like to move – but a short dance combo to “The Jitterbug” is provided in the attached folder. Please be prepared to show off your acting skills! You may read from the script (short scenes are provided) – but you can always improvise! Be sure to print out the audition form included in the folder and fill it out. Be sure to look over the rehearsal calendar to see if you have any date conflicts. This helps directors plan. Please download the attachment for details and the form. Rehearsals will begin on February 2nd and will be held at Hanscom Park United Methodist Church at approximately 3 days per week until March 17th. NOTE: Somerehearsals may be held on Zoom due to weather or conflicts. Beginning March 17th, rehearsals will be held at the Jewish Community Center’s Alan J. Levine Theater. Performances will be held at the Jewish Community Center Theater on April 5th (7 pm) and 6th (2 pm). If interested, please apply.
