About the project: SYNOPSIS: PAL JOEY follows smooth-talking, cocky anti-hero Joey Evans as he worms his way into owning his own nightclub. Along the way, he juggles the affections of many women, including a wealthy, married socialite. She begins to bankroll Joey's new club, until a crooked agent, and his sidekick threaten to tell the socialite's husband about her affair. Joey finally gets a taste of his own medicine when Vera dumps him and cuts the funding for his club. Another woman hopes to win his heart, now that he is newly single. but unfortunately can't keep the playboy tied down. Joey lands on his feet. not learning anything from his fall from grace, and continuing his scheming ways. PAL JOEY is the penultimate collaboration of Rodger and Hart, and the first musical to feature an anti-hero lead. With classic songs like -Bewitched. Bothered and Bewildered. Additional info: Please prepare a classic Broadway song to audition with. A song from the show is preferable. Please bring sheet music in your key. You will be asked to read from both sides. Be prepared to move. Please be prepared to list all of your conflicts from February to the show dates. REHEARSALS: Beginning Early February. Brash, confident and deeply flawed, he somehow always lands on his feet.

She is a clever, quietly ruthless woman who doesn't miss a beat, and she usually stays a few steps ahead of Joey. Bored with married life, she enjoys being desired by a younger man like Joey, though she remains ambivalent about her feelings towards him.

SOPRANO An honest and good-natured young woman, Linda meets Joey outside of a pet store while looking at puppies. Though slightly naive, Linda eventually catches on to Joey's lies. Still, she remains chantable and forgiving, hanging on to the glimmers of good she saw in him and helping him as a friend.

MEZZO-SOPRANO An embittered and bored chorus dancer in the Chicago vaudeville scene, Gladys was once severely slighted by Joey in an incident that sent her to the hospital. Incited by revenge, she and her old mobster friend Ludlow Lowell plot to profit from Joey and Vera's downfall.

MEZZO-SOPRANO A seasoned and sharp reporter who interviews Joey about the opening of his new nightclub, Melba has seen it all. Two sentences into their interview. she goadingly calls Joey out on his obviously fabricated origin story. But she remains unphased. After all, she's interviewed all kinds of showfolk, including the surpnsingly intellectual burlesque performer Gypsy Rose Lee.
