Seeking Kids and Teens for "Once on This Island"
Looking for children ages 8 and up for the "Once on This Island" Show. Please see the details below. About the project: "Once on This Island" is a captivating and joyous Caribbean-infused musical, based on the novel My Love, My Love by Rosa Guy. It tells the story of Ti Moune, a fearless peasant girl who embarks on a journey guided by the island's gods to find her place in the world and reunite with the young man who has captured her heart. This magical tale of love, loss, and community celebrates storytelling, resilience, and the power of the human spirit. Additional info: "Once on This Island" celebrates African and Afro-Caribbean cultural heritage, and casting will prioritize authenticity and representation. What to Prepare: Vocal: Please prepare a brief song(16-32 bars) in the style of the show. Singing from the show is acceptable and welcome. Please indicate which character you would like to be considered for on your audition form. Please bring a headshot and resume. If you do not have either you are still encouraged to audition! Please bring sheet music in the correct key. Accompanist provided. NO ACAPELLA SINGING. (Singing with a backing track is acceptable if you do not have sheet music) Please be prepared to sing a selection from the show if asked. Movement: Please bring comfortable clothes and shoes for a movement call should you be asked to stay. The call will take place immediately following vocal auditions from 4:00 pm-5:00 pm Lunch Break 1:00 pm-1:30 pm Movement Call: 4:00 pm-5:00 pm Rehearsals- mid-Jan. Tech- mid-Feb.
