Young Talent Wanted for Singing Audition "Chicago Teen Edition"

Casting ages 14-18 years old for "Chicago Teen Edition". Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: In roaring twenties Chicago, chorine Roxie Hart murders a faithless lover and convinces her hapless husband, Amos, to take the rap… until he finds out he’s been duped and turns on Roxie. Convicted and sent to death row, Roxie and another “Merry Murderess,” Velma Kelly, vie for the spotlight and the headlines, ultimately joining forces in search of the “American Dream”: fame, fortune, and acquittal. Additional info: Please prepare a 32-bar (approximately 60-second) cut from a song that fits the style of the show and suits your voice. This is a jazzy musical by Kander and Ebb, so please consider songs from similar musicals like Cabaret, Kiss of the Spiderwoman, Steel Pier, Bandstand, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Fosse, Cabaret, Swing!, Catch Me if You Can, Shuffle Along, Parade, King Kong, Pippin, Some Like it Hot, The Wild Party, or similar. Selections from the show are also encouraged. If you are auditioning for a lead who belts, we need to hear your belt! Avoid musicals from very different genres (“The Sound of Music”, for example, will not tell directors how your voice will fit into this show!) Your audition should be memorized and show your ability to portray the character’s emotions, mannerisms, etc. The dance will not be done until the invitational callback. Please bring a device to play your accompaniment track on, such as a smartphone. REHEARSALS: Rehearsals will be held 3 times per week: Sundays, Mondays, and Wednesdays, 6-9 pm.
