A sweet, smart, and naive girl who has been homeschooled in Africa and is new to high school life in America. She’s intelligent and curious but initially unaware of social hierarchies. Over the course of the story, Cady transforms as she navigates the school’s cliques, ultimately learning to balance authenticity with fitting in.
The self-proclaimed “Queen Bee” of North Shore High School. Confident, manipulative, and charismatic, Regina controls her friends and her school with an iron fist. She knows how to use charm and intimidation to get what she wants. However, underneath her tough exterior, she hides insecurities.
Artistic, witty, and fiercely independent, Janis is a rebel with a strong sense of justice. She’s sarcastic and mistrustful of the “Plastics” due to past betrayals. As Cady’s first friend, Janis enlists her help in exposing Regina’s mean streak, but her anger at Regina sometimes blinds her to her own flaws.
Janis’s best friend and a big-hearted, hilarious character who is openly himself. Known for his humor and loyalty, Damian is supportive of his friends and provides comedic relief. He’s also very perceptive and insightful, often seeing through Regina’s manipulations and giving Cady good advice.
Regina’s insecure but loyal sidekick, who is eager to please and constantly worries about her status in the group. Gretchen is known for oversharing and is easily influenced by others’ opinions, particularly Regina’s. Her vulnerability makes her sympathetic, though she struggles with her desire for approval.
Another member of the “Plastics,” Karen is kindhearted but not particularly bright. She’s innocent, a little ditzy, and often gets overlooked, but she’s genuinely well-meaning. Her comedic timing and childlike nature make her lovable, and her honesty sometimes surprises people.
Cady’s love interest and Regina’s ex-boyfriend. Aaron is friendly, laid-back, and intelligent. He is uncomfortable with the high school drama and isn’t particularly interested in popularity. Aaron becomes suspicious of Cady’s transformation and serves as a voice of reason in the story.
A kind and caring teacher who encourages Cady to stay true to herself. Mrs. Norbury has a sharp sense of humor and tries to keep her students grounded. She is committed to helping her students succeed, especially Cady, and acts as a moral compass in the play.
The no-nonsense, somewhat overwhelmed principal of North Shore High School. He tries to keep control of the students but often finds himself in over his head, especially with the chaos the “Plastics” create. He’s a bit quirky but genuinely cares about his students’ well-being.
A confident and nerdy student who is proud of his math abilities and leads the Mathletes. Kevin has a quirky sense of humor and a bold personality. Though he’s academically focused, he’s also charismatic and unafraid to speak his mind, often showing off his freestyle rapping skills.
