About the project: The world-famous Willy Wonka is opening the gates to his mysterious factory—but only to a lucky few. Young Charlie Bucket and four other golden ticket winners will embark on a life-changing journey through Wonka’s world of pure imagination, featuring chocolate waterfalls, nutty squirrels, and the great glass elevator, all revealed by Wonka's curious Oompa-Loompas. Based on Roald Dahl's beloved novel, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory comes to life with an original score by Marc Shaiman, lyrics by Scott Wittman and Marc Shaiman, and a book by David Greig. The musical also pays homage to the classic 1971 film with memorable songs by Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley, including Candy Man, I've Got a Golden Ticket, Oompa Loompa Song, and the timeless, Pure Imagination. Additional info: Please prepare an audition cut of music (32 Bars - Approx. 1 Min) Please bring a karaoke-style backing track (no vocals) to plug into our speaker (appropriate connections will be provided). Or sheet music for a live accompanist. NO ACAPELLA SINGING will be allowed. The directors strongly encourage you to prepare a song from Roald Dahl's CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY If auditioning for a specific character we recommend preparing a song sung by that character (e.g. Violet - Queen of Pop) If auditioning for an ensemble please prepare any Musical Theatre/Pop song that highlights your range. Dress comfortably and be prepared to learn a short, energetic dance routine. If called back, you will be asked to read from the script and sing songs from the show.
