Teen Singing Audition in "Spellling Bee's" Musical
ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. The musical "Spellling Bee's" is currently in need of singers ages 16+. Please, see the details below. Rate: Non-Equity, volunteer production. Additional information: SPELLING BEE’S show runs from Friday, February 14, to Sunday, March 9. Rehearsals will be held three times a week, two weeknights and Sunday afternoons. Dance Call – Sunday, November 10th: 11:00 am — 1:00 pm. Callbacks – Sunday, November 10th: 2:00 pm — 4:00 pm (participants will be contacted via email by the SPELLING BEE production team). AUDITION LOCATION: Hamilton, Ontario. AUDITION REQUIREMENTS: Auditioners are asked to prepare two contrasting songs. One must be from a contemporary musical, and one MUST be comedic. These can be the same selection if they fit both categories (e.g., a comedic musical theater song and a contrasting ballad). The audition will also include a list of six-word stories or short sentences for auditioners to choose from in the audition room. Male-Presenting | Tenor. An athletic, social, boy scout and champion of the Twenty-Fourth Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee who returns to defend his title but finds puberty hitting at an inopportune moment.
Female-Presenting, Mezzo-Soprano. The youngest and most politically aware speller. Somewhat of a neat freak, speaks with a lisp, and will be back next year.
Female-Presenting | Mezzo-Soprano. A young newcomer to competitive spelling whose mother is in an ashram in India, and father is working late, as usual. Made friends with her dictionary at a very young age, helping her to make it to the competition.
Female-Presenting | Mezzo-Soprano. A recent transfer from Virginia who placed ninth in last year’s nationals. A total over-achiever, who attends a Catholic school called “Our Lady of Intermittent Sorrows”. Is not allowed to cry.
Male-Presenting | Tenor. A homeschooler and the second runner-up in his district. Comes from a large family of former hippies and makes his own clothes. Spells words correctly while in a trance.
Male-Presenting | Tenor. A finalist last year who was eliminated because of an allergic reaction to peanuts. Famous for his “Magic Foot” spelling method.
