Teen Boys and Girls Needed for "A Nice Family Gathering" Play

Canton, MA, United States
ID: 576273Exp: 11/19/2024
Description:

Looking for boys and girls ages 17+ for "A Nice Family Gathering" Play. Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: The action took place about 25-30 years ago before the internet and smartphones dominated our lives. The original play took place in Wisconsin but we will most likely “New Englandize” it as rehearsals progress. The setting is the home of a typical Thanksgiving family gathering. It is one with which many of us can relate, what with the holiday chaos, sibling rivalry, and dysfunctional conversation. It is the first such gathering after the father’s unexpected death, and Dad “returns” to tell his long-time wife something he never really told her during the decades of marriage: that he loves her. Although only his son, Carl, can see and communicate with him, the task gets even more complicated when Mom’s “date” shows up at the door for the celebration. Additional info: Callbacks, if needed, Wednesday, Nov 20th, 7-9 pm. See the details in the attachment. If interested, please apply.

4 roles

CARLMale17-18 y.o.All ethnicities

He is an aspiring writer, while driving a truck is his reality. Wants to follow his passion rather than be practical, a struggling “artist.” He has a needy quality with a dash of low self-esteem.

JILLFemale17-18 y.o.All ethnicities

By all accounts very attractive, but an emotional mess. She’s having trouble getting pregnant, but that seems to be just the beginning. She can be thick at times.

STACYMale17-18 y.o.All ethnicities

The youngest child. Some might refer to her as the “red headed step child,” or the child they “might” not have planned. Low self-esteem, often invisible when she’s actually there.

JERRYBoth genders17-18 y.o.All ethnicities

In theory, could be played as a younger or older gentleman caller. Charming, always saying the right thing (although one might wonder if he’s sincere), and the antithesis of DAD.
