About the project: This intriguing and beautiful folk opera delivers a deeply resonant and defiantly hopeful theatrical experience. Following two intertwining love stories – that of young dreamers Orpheus and Eurydice and that of immortal King Hades and Lady Persephone – Hadestown Teen Edition invites audiences on a hell-raising journey to the underworld and back. Inspired by classic American folk music traditions and vintage New Orleans jazz, Mitchell’s beguiling sung-through musical pits the industry against nature, doubt against faith, and fear against love. Additional info: Callbacks: Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at 5:30 PM Please come prepared to sing 32 bars (about 60 to 90 seconds) of a NON-MUSICAL THEATER song (folk, rock, jazz, gospel, etc.) Absolutely NO a cappella–sheet music, instrument, or accompaniment track only. Seeking actors with unique, vibrant singing skills. Certain roles will also require strong instrumental abilities. Accompanying yourself with a musical instrument is encouraged.
