Seeking Teen Talent for "Cicada Song" Student Short Film
Casting actors ages 17 and up for "Cicada Song" Student Short Film. Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: This is an advanced narrative short film about Danny, a native teen whose struggle to accept his cultural identity begins to isolate him from his family when he refuses to go to the ceremony. As his father attempts to connect with him, Danny must confront his shame and decide if it is stronger than his familial bonds. Through his father’s quiet persistence, Danny is faced with a choice: continue to deny his relations or embrace them as a part of himself. At its core, this is a story about family, identity, and the power of connection-both to one’s culture and to the people who love them. This film delves into themes of shame and rejection, as Danny feels trapped between a society that views his culture as a caricature and a family that lovingly holds onto tradition. His isolation from the ceremony symbolizes his growing distance from his roots and his family. The heart of this story explores how cultural shame and external pressures can cause deep rifts in family relationships. Danny’s journey speaks to anyone who has ever felt caught between their heritage and a desire to fit into a larger world that doesn’t fully understand them. Rate: Compensation includes meals on set, credit, and a copy of the film. Additional info: Looking to film November 8-10th in the Austin, Texas area.
