"Something Rotten! Jr." Auditions for Boys and Girls

About the project: Travel back to the Renaissance for an hour of musical comedy gold in Something Rotten! JR. Adapted from the Broadway hit that Time Out New York hailed as “the funniest musical comedy in at least 400 years,” Something Rotten! JR. celebrates one undeniable truth: “Nothing’s as amazing as a musical!” In the 1590s, brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom are desperate to write a hit play but are stuck in the shadow of that Renaissance rock star known as “The Bard.” When a local soothsayer foretells that the future of theatre involves singing, dancing and acting at the same time, Nick and Nigel set out to write the world’s very first musical. But amidst the scandalous excitement of opening night, the Bottom Brothers realize that reaching the top means being true to thine own self, and all that jazz. Additional info: Please come to the audition with a 16-32 bar cut of sheet music from a musical number that best shows off your voice, in the style of the show, printed back to front and put into a binder for the accompanist. Please bring a recent photograph. Please fill out the electronic audition form, including conflicts. Check conflicts before auditioning. Only conflicts that were on the audition form will be excused. The only exceptions are for school concerts and required, unexpected, school functions. We will still consider people who have conflicts, and we know that we will need to be flexible over winter break. So, please be honest about conflicts. Please only put on the form that you are willing to accept any role if you are. Directors will not hold it against your child if they don’t want to be in the ensemble or only want a specific role and don’t want to do the show otherwise. We always have incredibly talented kids, and decisions are always hard. There will be four days of rehearsal per week determined after all conflicts are recorded. This includes rehearsals during winter break. At this time, directors are expecting to do the show and tech without masks. Parents, teams do need help throughout the run. Volunteering during the show is expected; if there is a reason that you cannot volunteer, please let director's know the reason, and teams can make accommodations. If interested, please appply.
