About the project: Welcome to the Renaissance and the outrageous, crowd-pleasing musical farce, Something Rotten. Lauded by audience members and critics alike, the show received several Best Musical nominations and was hailed by Time Out New York as "the funniest musical comedy in at least 400 years". Something Rotten features large song and dance numbers, and a wacky cast of over-the-top characters, each with their own moment to shine. Throughout its Broadway run, the musical received a show-stopping standing ovation from audiences... at the beginning of the first act! Tenor or High Baritone. A soothsayer who almost sees the future correctly. Comedic actor who sings and moves well, some basic tap dancing. 1 solo plus chorus numbers and scenes.
Tenor or high baritone. A renaissance rock star, Classic Tom Jones/Mick Jagger performer. Comedic Actor with a pop/rock voice style and swagger.. 2 solos plus chorus numbers, moves well, some basic tap dancing. Disguises as Toby Belch in Nick’s theatre troupe.
Portia’s strict, deeply repressed Puritan father who refuses to let her associate with Nigel. Highly comedic and inventive actor, a few solo singing lines plus chorus numbers.
Money lender to whom Nick owes money He loves theatre and would like to be a producer (but it is illegal because he is Jewish) Comedic actor, some chorus numbers.
