Out of the violence of World War I, a silence, then a song. A German soldier steps into No Man’s Land singing “Stille Nacht.” Thus begins an extraordinary night of camaraderie, music, and peace. Defying orders to charge across the barbed wire and trenches into the face of machine gun fire, soldiers on both sides come together in a truce to trade and sing, finding a moment of peace in the midst of terrible war. An a cappella chorale, All Is Calm is a remarkable true story in the words and songs of the men who lived it. Additional info: Callbacks: Wednesday, October 16 7:30 pm-9:00 pm The directors are seeking an ensemble of 10 male-presenting actors who will portray various World War I soldiers. This ensemble works together to tell the story of the Christmas Truce of 1914 through song and various found texts from the time including letters, journal entries, etc. Each actor utilizes various dialects to portray these characters truthfully. Please prepare one of the following monologues from the play to perform alongside 16-32 bars of a non-pop song that best showcases your talents. Vocal auditions should be without accompaniment as this show will be performed a cappella. Attempting to use the listed dialect during auditions is highly encouraged.
