About the project: The play follows the premise of the original classic but with some plot and character twists in a Dr Seuss storytelling style. The play dialog uses a rhyming style of iambic pentameter typical of many Dr Seuss children’s books so crisp diction will be an absolute necessity for actors seeking a principal role. The pace and flow of the entire production will depend to a large extent to the phrenic energy and physical comedy of Narrator 1 and Narrator 2. These two characters will make appearances throughout the entire play and have a nature reminiscent of Thing 1 and Thing 2 in the Dr.Seuss classic, The Cat in the Hat. Followability and clean diction will be an absolute must for these roles.
Mild-mannered, long-suffering clerk in Scrooge’s employee. He always looks for the positive even in his meager circumstances.
Scrooge’s carefree nephew who loves life, friends, and Christmas. As the name suggests, Bed-Head Fred sports a Trumpian hairdo.
This character portrays two phases of Scrooge from the past. The first Scrooge we see is a young optimistic teen rocker full of life and passion.
Surfer Due or Valley Girl type character. Role could be adapted to fit a male or female character.
Young Scrooge’s romantic interest.
Young child part for a boy, or girl who could play the part of a young boy. A fragile, desperate, sympathetic figure with a heart of gold.
