Dance Opportunities for Kids in "Matilda JR." Musical
Performers in grades 4th-12th are invited to audition for the "Matilda Jr." Show. Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: Matilda has astonishing wit, intelligence... and special powers! She's unloved by her cruel parents but impresses her schoolteacher, the highly loveable Miss Honey. Matilda's school life isn't completely smooth sailing, however – the school's mean headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, hates children and just loves thinking up new punishments for those who don't abide by her rules. But Matilda has courage and cleverness in equal amounts, and could be the school pupils' saving grace! Additional info: SINGING: Prepare a song, maximum length 32 bars or 45 seconds. Bring your sheet music with you. An accompanist will be provided. CDs/tracks are not allowed. Along with your singing ability, you will be assessed on your poise, animation, enthusiasm, etc. When singing, use good tone quality, pitch, diction, volume, and character. Emote and present your character as you sing. No a cappella (without accompaniment) singing is allowed. DANCE: After the songs have been presented, each group will present the dance audition.
