About the project: Synopsis: Rich miser Ebenezer Scrooge hates Christmas and all it entails. On Christmas Eve, spirits appear and take Scrooge to see poignant scenes from his past, joyful holiday celebrations in the present, and horrifying future events. In response, Scrooge changes his life to embody the holiday spirit all year round Additional info: Rehearsals will take place at The Governor’s School for the Arts, beginning Tuesday, November 19, 2024. Public performances at the Sandler Center will take place on Friday, Dec. 6, 2024, at 8 PM, Saturday, Dec. 7 5, 2024 at 2 PM and 7:30 PM, and Sunday, Dec. 8, 2024, at 2:30 PM. Please note that Thanksgiving day will be a dark day, but we will be rehearsing the other days of Thanksgiving week. See the attachment for the sides. Bob Cratchit’s young son, crippled from birth. Tiny Tim is a highly sentimentalized character who Dickens uses to highlight the tribulations of England’s poor and to elicit sympathy from his middle and upper class readership. Strong actor and singer. Vocal Range: Boy Soprano(F4 – Eb5)
The first spirit to visit Scrooge, a curiously childlike apparition with a glowing head. He takes Scrooge on a tour of Christmases in his past. The spirit uses a cap to dampen the light emanating from his head. Vocal Range: Tenor (D3-D4) Must be a good mover & Singer
A beautiful woman who Scrooge loved deeply when he was a young man. Belle broke off their engagement after Scrooge became consumed with greed and the lust for wealth. She later married another man. Vocal range: Soprano/Belt (Bb3-Eb5) Must be a strong mover.
A handsome young Scrooge in love with Belle before he started going down the wrong path. Vocal range: Tenor (Bb2-Ab4) Must be a strong mover.
A young newsboy that serves as the narrator of the show. Vocal range: Tenor or Boy Sop (C3-Eb4) Must be a good mover.
