Casting Call for Kids for "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever"
Seeking kids ages 8-13 years old for "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever" Show. Please see the details below. About the project: Meet the Herdmans - the “worst kids in the history of the world.” They invade the church one Sunday and decide to take over the annual Christmas pageant. The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, written by Barbara Robinson in 1972, has become a Christmas classic. In 1982, Barbara Robinson adapted her book for the stage; since then, theatres nationwide have performed her script annually. Many factors contribute to this story’s wide appeal. Certainly, many people’s first (or only) memories of gracing the stage are tied up with holiday pageants, concerts, and recitals. Directors also remember (or maybe were?) the children who pushed the boundaries too far, or were pushed around themselves. But most of all, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever is about transformation. At first, Mrs. Bradley must face the disbelief and horror of local townspeople when she casts Imogene Herdman as Mary, her brothers as Joseph and the Wise Men, and her wild-card younger sister as the angel who brings the news to the shepherds. The pageant is sure to be an unruly mess. But the Herdmans’ involvement with the pageant brings surprising results. Attitudes change toward the Herdmans, the Christmas story, and all of those involved with the Christmas pageant. Additional info: Rehearsals begin Wednesday, October 9th. Show dates: December 6-13.
