Casting Call for Boys and Girls for "Christmas Revels" Show

Seeking kids ages 8-12 for the "Christmas Revels: An English Country Christmas Under the Greenwood Tree" Show. Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: For the 42nd annual Revels, people celebrate an English country Christmas taken from author Thomas Hardy’s warm memories of the winter holidays in 19th-century England. Quirky characters, a budding romance, rustic tunes, and rousing dances come together in this delightful story. The multigenerational cast will be joined by local traditional musicians from the Whiskey Before Breakfast Band and the Washington Revels Brass in a fully staged holiday production featuring pub carols, joyful anthems, Revels favorites, and many opportunities for the audience to join in! Additional info: Looking for children who are enthusiastic, musical, comfortable on stage, and happy working in a group. Revels children appear more “natural” and can be loud and boisterous or quiet or calm; they are not seeking a flashy or “Broadway”-type theater experience. Kids will be taught a simple song or two and they will play together, as the ability to enjoy group play and receive instructions in a relaxed way is important. Each child should prepare a short unaccompanied song to sing; this should be something simple that they are comfortable with and enjoy singing (something from school or camp, a carol, folk song, even “Happy Birthday” can suffice-no pop, please).
