Child Singing Audition for "A Christmas Story" The Musical

Searching for kids ages 8-14 years old for "A Christmas Story The Musical". Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: Young Ralphie Parker wants one thing for Christmas, and one thing only: an official Red Ryder Range Model Carbine Action BB Gun. There's only one problem: everyone else is convinced he'll shoot his eye out! Undeterred, he begins his saga of convincing all the necessary players, from his sweet but protective mothing to his straight-laced teacher, Miss Shields, all the way to Santa Claus himself, that he needs that gun for the protection of his loved ones, and maybe even a little cowboy glory to call his own. Additional info: Auditions will consist of three parts: a vocal audition, a dance audition, and, if time allows, reading from provided scripts. Acting sides for the show will be made available closer to the time of auditions. Auditions will be open and held in the theatre starting at 7:00 PM. Directors ask that all those looking to audition arrive early to fill out an audition form. Please be prepared to list ALL conflicts for the duration of the show schedule to help the production staff plan. VOCAL AUDITION: Vocal auditions will be led by music directors Tyler Harr and Megan McDillon. Please prepare 16-32 bars (30-60 seconds) of a musical piece that showcases your range and vocal ability. Directors ask that music prepared to reflect the style of the show, but please sing whatever you feel most comfortable with. An accompanist will be provided to play during auditions, so please provide labeled sheet music that is easy to access (preferably in a binder). After your vocal audition, you may be asked to perform a vocal range test as well. DANCE AUDITION: After the vocal auditions, everyone will learn a dance routine from the show with choreographer Alex Lovel. Once the dance has been taught, you will be separated into small groups to perform the dance two times. Please dress in comfortable clothing and shoes you can dance in. There will be time provided to change after your vocal audition if you choose to do so. To those with tapping abilities, please stay afterward to complete a small tap audition. ACTING AUDITION: If time allows, everyone will get the opportunity to read from the provided show scenes to show off their acting ability. Everyone will have the opportunity to read at least once. If acting does not happen at the initial auditions, it will occur as needed at callbacks. CALLBACKS: Wednesday, Sept. 11th from 7-8 PM will be reserved for those who could not audition Monday and Tuesday. Callbacks, if needed, will occur afterward on Wednesday night. Those who auditioned Monday and Tuesday and need a callback will be notified via email on Tuesday night if they need to return. Please remember that if you do not receive a callback, it does not mean that you are not cast in the show. It just means the production staff saw everything they needed to see.
