Kid Audition For Singing in "Seussical Jr." Show
Looking for boys and girls in grades 4-12th for the "Seussical Jr." Show. Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: Horton the Elephant, the Cat in the Hat and all of your favorite Dr. Seuss characters spring to life onstage in Seussical JR., a fantastical musical extravaganza from Tony winners, Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty. Transporting audiences from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus, the Cat in the Hat narrates the story of Horton the Elephant, who discovers a speck of dust containing tiny people called the Whos. Horton must protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, and he must also guard an abandoned egg that's been left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant! Additional info: Performances: December 6-8 & 13-15 (Matinee and Evening, may be double cast, at least 4 shows per performer). The production will rehearse on Sunday afternoons, Monday, and Wednesday afternoons into early evening, plus some Tuesdays beginning October 13. You will only be called for rehearsal when you are needed. Mandatory Tech Week will be daily from December 1-5. There is a participation fee if cast. (This includes a cast t-shirt). Please upload a video of a one-minute cut of a musical theatre song in the style of the show that best shows off you! Songs should be performed with accompaniment (recorded piano accompaniment or karaoke tracks are great!). Please slate your name and title of your audition song at the beginning of the video. Please also upload a video of you reading from one of the Dr. Seuss selections. See document attached. Please note there are 4 options in this one document but you only need to do one. Please be animated - we are looking for strong storytellers and big choices! This show doesn’t have a lot of dialogue (a lot is sung!), so this is a good way for us to see you portray a character. We will ask people to read for specific parts at callbacks. Please slate your name and state the roles you would most like to be considered for before you read. Please note, you will be considered for other roles as well as the ones you express interest in. If interested, please apply.
