About the project: The final collaboration between Rodgers & Hammerstein was destined to become the world’s most beloved musical. Featuring a trove of cherished songs, including “Climb Ev’ry Mountain,” “My Favorite Things,” “Do-Re-Mi,” “Sixteen Going on Seventeen” and the title number, The Sound of Music won the hearts of audiences worldwide, earning five Tony Awards and five Oscars. The inspirational story, based on the memoir of Maria Augusta Trapp, follows an ebullient postulate who serves as governess to the seven children of the imperious Captain von Trapp, bringing music and joy to the household. But as the forces of Nazism take hold of Austria, Maria, and the entire von Trapp family must make a moral decision. Additional info: (Possible callbacks for Kids and Adults on October 9). Rehearsals begin approximately a week after auditions and continue through January 17, 2025, and are conducted Monday through Friday from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Some weekend rehearsals may be scheduled as well depending on the director’s needs. Production Dates: January 17 – February 2, 2025 (11 Performances Total) Prepare 32 to 64 bars of a song in the style of the show, and that shows off your vocal abilities. Please bring a karaoke track to accompany you. Bluetooth devices are available in the audition room.
