Anya is brave, fiery, witty, and above all determined. With no memory of her life before age 17 and having lived through the Russian Revolution, Anya jumps at the sound of gunshots and is distrustful of strangers, but there is steel hiding just beneath the surface. Anya is strong-willed and compassionate. Her mantra, “Home, love, family” is her goal. All she knows is her family is in Paris and she will find them however she can. Strong actress and singer. Dmitry is a scoundrel with a heart of gold. Dmitry is a conman who does all he does to get out of poverty and is not above lying, cheating, and stealing to do so–until he meets Anya. What starts as just another scheme turns into the adventure of a lifetime that requires Dimitry to look inward and figure out how to put the one he loves before himself. Strong actor and singer. Tenor. Range: A2-G4.

Range: A2-F4. Comic Baritone Vlad is Dmitry’s partner in crime and surrogate father. Before the revolution, he scammed his way through society pretending to be a count. Vlad is dramatic, crafty, and a big softie at heart. While he, like Dmitry, is not above lying, cheating, and stealing, he cares greatly for his loved ones and is generally affable, though he can be calculating when he needs to be. Strong Actor and Singer. Comic Baritone.

Lily is the lady in waiting to the Dowager Empress. She has been by the Dowager’s side since before the revolution. Lily is clever, dutiful, and fun (when not working for the Dowager). She deals with her exile from Russia with a resigned dark humor. She and Vlad were once an item (unbeknownst to her husband) and rekindle their romance upon meeting. Strong actor, singer and mover/dancer. Mezzo belter Range: G3-C5.

Gleb is the villain of the show, though not a bad person. He fully believes in the Communist ideals he follows. Loyal, honest, and hard-working, Gleb almost has the potential to be a hero. A deeply conflicted person, Gleb’s infatuation with Anya leads to his battle with the idea of doing one’s duty vs. doing what is right. Strong actor and singer. Baritone. Range: A2-Gb4.

The last Czar of Russia. Though a kind family man who loves his children he is woefully terrible as a leader and easily swayed and manipulated by his advisors. Believes he is chosen by God to lead Russia. Strong actor and singer.

The Czarina of Russia. A descendant of Queen Victoria, Alexandra is beautiful, graceful, and very religious. She is a stern mother. Her trust and devotion to Rasputin lead to the Romanov family’s downfall. Strong singer, actor, and mover.

Young Anastasia is the willful, brave, proud, and precocious youngest daughter of the Tsar. She has a special bond with her grandmother, Nana. Strong singer and actor

The third daughter in the Romanov family , Maria is the kind, sweet and shy middle child. She never gets into any trouble unlike her sisters. Good singer, actor and mover.

The “beautiful” Romanov sister, she is the most like her mother; graceful and religious. She is the leader of the Romanov children despite not being the oldest.

The oldest Romanov child. Clever and book smart with a sharp wit and a temper. She takes being the oldest Romanov seriously and believes strongly in the monarchy. Good actor singer and mover

Alexei was the Tsarevich (Heir to the throne) and only boy of the Romanov siblings. He suffered from debilitating hemophilia that often left him bedridden. Anya mentions that he was her best friend.
