About the project: The world-famous Willy Wonka is opening the gates to his mysterious factory…but only to a lucky few. Young Charlie Bucket and four other golden ticket winners will embark on a life-changing journey through Wonka’s world of pure imagination including chocolate waterfalls, nutty squirrels and the great glass elevator, all to be revealed by Wonka's army of curious Oompa-Loompas. Additional info: Production Dates: December 6-22, 2024 SINGING: Actors will sing 16 bars of a song in the style of the show, or from the show itself. Actors are strongly encouraged to supply a piano-vocal score for an audition accompanist to play from but tracks are also accepted. An audition accompanist will be provided. DANCING: Come in comfortable, easy-to-move-in clothes for the dance portion. ACTING: Readings will come directly from the script. If you are unable to audition at the designated times, a one-on-one time can be arranged with the director. Callbacks will be scheduled and communicated at the audition. Boy about age ten who is sweet, smart, hopeful and loving. Charlie Bucket is the emotional heart and soul of the musical. He is wonderfully innocent. An honest actor and an excellent singer with an unchanged voice. Charlie is in nearly every scene, and the actor should be able to handle the demands of a sizable role.
Youthful boy who is round and full-faced, but rampantly over-active despite his size. He speaks with a German accent and is an excellent singer and comedic actor.
Veruca is wealthy, class-conscious, and a completely spoiled girl. Classical ballet skills a plus but not required. Veruca is a comedic actress with a character singing/screaming voice. Pointe shoes not required but indicate if you have them and are a dancer and/or gymnast. Speaks with a Russian accent.
Youthful girl who has a huge pop/R&B voice, as well as amazing dance skills. She is confident, forward and full of attitude. This girl loves attention and is a great singer.
Youthful boy who is a fireplug with a ridiculous amount of energy. For this adaptation Mike is not just a TV junky. He is also addicted to video games, the Internet and any other mind-numbing technological device. He is a hacker as well! Mike is bratty, loud and obnoxious. He does not understand the word “no."
The Oompa-Loompas should be shorter than the other children in the cast. They will appear in Act 2. Looking for strong dancers/singers who are the workers in Wonka's Factory.
