About the project: I HATE CHRISTMAS is a big-hearted holiday comedy that appeals to audiences of all ages. Frankie Fine and The Misbegotten live in a group home for unwanted children and have little use for Christmas. Instead of sending Santa the usual list of toys, Frankie sends a different kind of letter, "I hate Christmas. Why don't you do us all a favor and call the whole thing off?" Meanwhile, at the North Pole, two of Santa's elves, Rolly and Dingo, have been banished to the mailroom: the next step for them is out the door. They discover Frankie's letter and decide that helping her may be their last chance to return to Santa's good graces. Working undercover at the group home, they discover it will take more than Christmas presents to replace a family. And it will take a lot more than good cheer to thaw out the icy Ms. Pincer, who runs the place. Can two of Santa's least wanted to save a Christmas that's not about what's under the tree? Additional info: Auditions will be a cold read from the script for those interested in speaking parts. Elf ensemble will sing and dance to Jingle Bells! Rehearsals will be on Sundays from 1:00-4:00 and Wednesdays from 6:00-8:00. Elf Ensemble will only rehearse on Sundays until tech week. Elf. Worked in the Research & Development Department before being sent to the mailroom. He is a bit cynical for an elf.
Elf. A good hearted, although somewhat clumsy elf. He may not be the brightest elf, but he has one of the biggest hearts.
Orphan and leader of her dorm room, they are called, “The Misbegottens.” She is the charismatic leader of her peers.
Best friend to Frankie and one of the Misbegottens. She wants to be like Frankie, but she is not as tough as Frankie is.
One of the Misbegottens. Tia is athletic and brave. If Frankie were not the leader of this group it would be Tia. She hopes to make a living in sports.
The youngest Misbegotten. Rose is sweet and shy. She is the one in the group that everyone looks out for. She has a well-worn stuffed animal, “Super Bear”, that she takes everywhere with her.
One of the Misbegottens. She does well in all her classes and loves to read.
The head mistress of the home. The children living there view her as a great evil force.
Older girl, like a den mother to the Misbegottens. She has just turned 18 and will be leaving the home soon.
Young Pincer. She has all the adult memories and mannerisms of old Pincer but she has been changed into a little girl again by the TZ2000.
