Casting Teen Boy for "On Golden Pond" Play
Casting a teen boy for the play "On Golden Pond." Please review the details below. About the project: “On Golden Pond” is the love story of Ethel and Norman Thayer who are returning to their summer home on Golden Pond for the forty-eighth year. They are visited by their divorced, middle-aged daughter and her dentist fiancé, who then go off to Europe, leaving his teenage son behind for the summer. The boy quickly becomes the “grandchild” the elderly couple have longed for, and as Norman revels in taking his ward fishing and thrusting good books at him, he also learns some lessons about modern teenage awareness—and slang—in return. In the end, as the summer wanes, so does their brief peace, and in the final, deeply moving moments of the play, Norman and Ethel are brought even closer together by the incidence of a mild heart attack. Time, they know, is now against them, but the years have been good and, perhaps, another summer on Golden Pond still awaits. Although most people might think this play is a drama, it is actually a comedy! It is a wonderful production that runs through all the emotions and gives actors a chance to exhibit all their abilities. Although the main characters are an elderly couple, age is relative in this play. What brain thinks of as 69 or 80 may be different than what a person of that age ACTUALLY looks like. Many older people look quite young. So, keeping that in mind, anyone who is interested in auditioning does NOT need to be the actual character’s age. You just need to be able to PORTRAY that age convincingly. Additional info: Performances run September 27, 28, 29, October 4, 5, 6, 11, 12 &13. Please see the attachment for details. If you are interested please apply.
