Seeking Teens and Kids for "Bye Bye Birdie" The Musical

Butler, NJ, United States
ID: 572238Exp: 8/9/2024
Description:

Actors aged 10 and up sought for the Fall production of "Bye Bye Birdie". Please see the breakdown below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: Summary: A loving send-up of the 1950s, small-town America, teenagers, and rock & roll, Bye Bye Birdie remains as fresh and vibrant as ever. Teen heartthrob Conrad Birdie has been drafted, so he chooses All-American girl Kim MacAfee for a very public farewell kiss. Featuring a tuneful high-energy score, plenty of great parts for teens, and a hilarious script, Birdie continues to thrill audiences around the world. Bye Bye Birdie opened on Broadway on April 14, 1960 and played for 607 performances at the Martin Beck Theatre (later at the 54th Street and the Shubert Theatres) starring Chita Rivera as Rose and Dick Van Dyke as Albert. The show played for 268 performances in London at Her Majesty's Theatre. In 2009, it was revived on Broadway at Henry Miller’s Theatre. Most recently, this year, it was at The Kennedy Center with Christian Borle and Krysta Rodriguez. Additional info: What to prepare? Please prepare a 32 bar/1 min cut of a song from Bye Bye Birdie or a classic Musical Theater song, a similar style to the show. Please bring a track for the audition. You may be asked to read sides at the audition or callback. The audition form is attached. Please Note: there is a Production Fee. If you are interested, please apply.

Randolph MacAfeeBoth genders9-13 y.o.All ethnicities

Lead Alto Kim’s younger brother, sings ‘Kids’ and ‘Ed Sullivan’ feature songs. Randolph is almost like the MacAfee family’s equivalent to Meg from Family Guy’s Griffin family. He’s overlooked a bit, and when he is acknowledged, he really isn’t given much respect at all. Randolph shouldn’t be played shy, but he is certainly the subordinate within the family. Randolph’s delivery of dialog must be spot-on!
